The Ambassador of Algeria in Belgium, his Excellency Amar Belani, has confirmed that there was no Algerian victim recorded in the deadly terrorist bombings perpetrated in Brussels on Tuesday that left 34 people dead and over 200 wounded.

In a phone call to “Echorouk” on Wednesday, Mr Amar Belani said that no Algerian nationals have been reported, so far, among the victims of the Brussels ill-fated bombings, stressing that the Belgian authorities are still at the stage of the identification of victims and perpetrators of the heinous bomb attacks.

The emergency committee set up at the Algerian Embassy in Brussels is in permanent contact with Belgian authorities to follow up the evolution of the situation following these attacks, he added.

The senior Algerian diplomat also underlined that there was no report from the Algerian community members over ill-treatment or harassment targeting them on the part of the Belgian police forces in the aftermath of the horrendous terrorist attacks carried out at Zaventem international Airport and a city subway station in Brussels.

Two emergency committees have been set up, one at the Algerian Embassy in Brussels and the other at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers in order to keep constantly abreast with the latest developments.

At least 34 people were killed and over 200 others were injured in the twin attacks in Brussels on Tuesday morning, according to the latest toll provided by Belgian media outlets.

Responsibility for the barbaric bombings in Brussels was claimed, a few hours later, by the so-called “Daesh” terrorist Organization.
