An Algerian humanitarian convoy to leave Algiers for Gaza
The Algerian NGO “ Irshad and Islah†is sending today humanitarian aid convoy to Gaza with the sponsorship of “Echourok Al Youmi†newspaper in support of the freedom flotilla that has been attacked by the Israeli commando last week in the international waters while trying to break the blockade of Gaza.

The head of the delegation, Nacereddine Choukllal has indicated that the convoy will bear the slogan” Support for the freedom flotilla” in the sense that the flotilla has paved the way for the breaking of the blockade of Gaza and this move is meant by to express our total support to the organizers of this humanitarian event.

He went on saying that the Algerian delegation will comprise students, doctors, journalists, and imams in a move to show that the Palestinian cause and the break of the blockade of Gaza is the mission of all the Algerians.

The convoy will head for Gaza passing through Rafah crossing but will not be loaded with humanitarian aids from Algiers, since the volunteers will buy the food and medical stuffs in Egypt.

Choukllal has indicated that the organizers have, this time around, asked Hamas leaders to forward them with list of the medicines and foods they need. The Algerian delegation will find the food and medical supplies at the Egyptian Red Crescent and buy them on spot from the Egyptian authorities, as agreed with the Palestinians.

As to the delay registered in the issue of the visas by the Egyptian authorities, he has indicated that reason behind is due to the complexity of the procedures “ The Egyptian foreign ministry required a formal request from its Algerian counterpart but we replied that we were an NGO” .

He went on saying that the Algerian delegation has asked the Egyptian authorities to grant us visas and facilitate our entry to Gaza. They will be protected by the Egyptian security forces.

It should be noted that another convoy comprising more than 100 personalities from different corners of the country will head for Gaza, the head of the delegation said.
