Angry people throw stones on Sellal in Oum Bouagui
People took to the street in the province of Oum Bouagui (east of Algiers) on Wednesday calling for the dismissal of its prefect as they threw stones on the vehicle of the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellalwho was on a visit to the province.
Tens of residents surrounded a room where the Prime Minister held a meeting with civil society representatives and had stayed there for hours while Sellal received some protesters and listened to their
concerns.
The angry people complained about their exclusion from the meeting with the civil society, saying the persons who attended the meeting do not represent them.
They also said Oum Bouagui’s prefect failed to meet their demands.
Sellal reassured the protesters and promised to develop the province as part of Algeria’s national endeavor to revive national economy.
He called on private capitals to invest their money in local development projects in order to revive the industrial sector as it is the main factor for economic growth.
“We will not disappoint people,” he said.
He added that Algeria is the only state in the world which builds houses for its people and will continue to fund big projects through public enterprises or partnership with foreigners.
Sellal believes that Algeria has big capacities and enjoys stability in a good political climate.
“Many countries want to hit Algeria’s stability.”
