Armed Forces Arrest 120 Terrorist Back Up Cells Within 8 Months
Detachment of the National Popular Army in Al Qasr district eliminated on Sunday five dangerous terrorists and retrieved five 5 Kalashnikov pistols in Bejaia, bringing the number of terrorists that were neutralized within one week to 10.
Defense Ministry said that over 121 terrorists are neutralized at the end of last August.
“In the context of the fight against terrorism and during a search and combing operation, an army detachment in the Qesar district, in Bejaia, said on Sunday that it eliminated five dangerous terrorists and recovered five Kalashnikov pistols, each is equipped with three ammunition stores”, the ministry’s statement said.
“This qualitative operation is complementary to the September 28, 2017 operation, which enabled the elimination of a terrorist and the recovery of a Kalashnikov machine gun with three full-blown ammunition stores.”
“These operations confirm the efforts of the armed forces to track and eliminate these criminals across the entire national territory”.
“After El Kseur operation and the elimination of six terrorists, the armed forces managed to neutralize ten terrorists within one week in Bejaia, Batna, Tipaza and Skikda.
In the details, the armed forces detachment arrested on September 29, a terrorist in Batna (eastern Algeria).
On the same day, another detachment arrested a dangerous terrorist after an ambush in the municipality of Amir Abdelkader in Jijel, and seized a Kalashnikov machine gun and a quantity of ammunition.
During a combing operation the armed forces eliminate of a terrorist the day before, and seized a Kalashnikov machine gun and three filled ammunition stores, and uncovered and destroyed a bomb-making workshop, two traditional bombs and ten Detonators.
On the same day, the dangerous terrorist, “S. Mohamed” called “Yakoub” surrendered to the military authorities in Skikda (eastern Algeria) with a semi-automatic rifle of the type Seminov type and a quantity of ammunition, as the terrorist was active as a responsible of a dangerous terrorist group.
Another detachment was able to eliminate a dangerous terrorist in the Tagrara regions in Merrad municipality in the operational sector of Tipaza, where this qualitative operation enabled the recovery of a Kalashnikov machine gun and various stuff.
Defense Ministry confirmed in an outcome that was prepared by Echorouk, that the remnants of terrorism fail to form any real threat at a time when the army was able to eliminate “dangerous terrorists”, as they implemented in the past 8 months several quality operations in the context of counter terrorism, as the number of terrorists who were arrested has increased compared with last year, as over 121 terrorists were neutralized among those were eliminated, arrested or surrendered, 88 terrorists were eliminated and 22 arrested, while 15 terrorists surrendered to the armed forces and the body of five terrorists were found.
The results indicate that the armed forces arrested 120 members of terrorist back up cells during the same period and dismantled many of the cells that provide support to terrorists.
The military institution attributed the effectiveness of the recent operations to the Intelligence Services Forces in thwarting the plans, and the determination and development of combat and operational capabilities.
