Algeria is expected to revise its Arab Region Agreement as trade ministry’s officials admitted that it did not achieve scheduled goals.

Speaking about changes to the association agreement with the European Union, acting foreign trade director at the ministry Said Djalab said they will be made in July. A number of meetings with the European partner has been held to revise the agreement

The director also said a meeting was organized in Brussels last week. The European Union admitted that Algeria’s arguments are true and a final agreement will be reached soon.

He added that importing licences will be offered to accredited car dealers after a large controversy. “The licences crisis will be definitively over.”

Cement importing will be officially ended as from 2018 following self-sufficiency. Algerian cement will be exported to Africa and Europe as well.

Djalab also talked about developing a large exporting program, saying Algerian potatoes were sold in a number of countries. Tomatoes and dates will be also exported.
