Attempt of 12 people to smuggle themselves foiled in Annaba

Civil Protection forces Monday intervened to check the state of 12 illegal immigrants in the port of Annaba. They were caught trying to smuggle themselves to the other side of the Mediterranean Sea.

Civil Protection Department said in a release coast units were on a routine patrol on Annaba’s coastline. They noticed a suspicious small boat in the sea at around 4 :30 a.m. A total of 12 illegal immigrants were arrested. They come from Biskra, Taref, Algiers, Bejaia and Annaba. Of them, there was a 12-year-old boy while the others are between 19 and 27. 

The illegal immigrants underwent a medical check up and will appear in court on Tuesday.
