All the successful candidates in the Baccalaureate exam will get one of their ten choices if they respected enrollment criteria at university, Algerian higher education minister Mohamed Mebarki told Echorouk in an interview.

Enrollment at university has started and students are concerned about specialties.

First of all, let me congratulate all the successful candidates and say welcome to them at university. I reassure them that their choices will be examined and they just have to respect the options given by the computer in accordance with their scores.

You inserted in the new guide a number of undesired specialties. Why do you keep such unattractive specialties?

Right, the undesired specialties phenomena exists. Yet, it is unbelievable to ban a specialty unwanted by most of the students. There is a minority which likes those specialties.

Some specialties such as engineering and medicine are accessible for students who have 14/20 while students should have 15/20 to enroll at those universities.

The point is that not any specialty is accessible according to the required score. For instance, we require 14/20 for medicine. This score enables students to take a national examination test to be accepted in this specialty. If the number of successful candidates is more than 5,000 while there are only 1,000 available places, we will select the students according to highest score until the inferior ones.
