Bachir Messeitfa: “Algeria Should Create a Bank to Finance Tourism”

Valuation of Article 8 of the new draft constitution needs the activation of the stagnent sectors, especially the tourism and crafts sector, which annual revenue does not exceed $ 200 million, while the number exceeds $9 billion dollars in Egypt and $1.3 billion in Morocco, Former Minister of Statistics and Prospective to the PM, Mr. Bachir Messeitfa, said.

“It is necessary to launch a bank that is specialized in tourism funding with the “participatory” formula, in order to direct a part of the private sector’s capital for the participation of the government in the tourism expansion programs, and launching the tourist moratorium as well, which is an innovative method of allocating the resources that are based on volunteering and private donation in the area of ​​receiving and harbouring the Algerian families in tourist destinations.”
Former Secretary of State proposed, on Friday in the wilaya of Batna (Eastern Algeria), on the occasion of the Amazigh New Year’s Celebrations, several keys to achieve this objective and stimulate the domestic tourism and tools of coordination between the relevant sectors and to encourage the tourist research and the adoption of strategic vigilance within the sector with the launch of a high-level tourist communication system, and the application of tourist quality standards at all the sector’s levels.
“State revenues from foreign exchange decline, and the continued collapse of oil prices will push Algeria to adopt a new vision in handling with the natural resources, as provided for in Article 17 bis of the new draft constitution, which is expected to be presented to Parliament on February, to place tourism in the first rank on the ladder of the growth priorities.”
Bachir Messaitfa welcomed the agreement that was concluded recently between the sectors of tourism and Religious Affairs, and thinks that it is another effective tool of developing the religious and spiritual tourism in Algeria.
