Benbada: “World Trade Organization uses double-standard policy regarding Algeria's adhesion”

Trade Minister, Mustapha Benbada, has affirmed that the world trade organization (WTO) is using a double-standard policy in dealing with Algeria's application for membership of the organization.

• Replying to a set of questions during a parliamentary day Wednesday on Algeria‘s accession to WTO membership, Mr Benbada said that Algeria had already drafted and conveyed an exhaustive file to this effect.

• Algeria has replied to all the relevant questions related to the negotiations for accession to WTO membership, he asserted.

• The trade Minister added that the problem of the election of the chairman of the working group in charge of Algeria‘s accession to membership had unfortunetaly delayed the holding of the meeting.

• Mr Benbada expressed the hope that these elections could be held by next July in order to speed up the membership process.
