African immigrants, who were in Ouargla Province (Southern Algeria), were transferred after the recent events to other cities, and were not expelled from the national territory, as it is rumoured, Chairman of the Algerian Red Crescent, Benhabyles, told Echorouk.

“Deportations do not pertain to all African nationals, but include Nigerian nationals only, at the request of their government, while the rest of the African refugees, who are present on the national territory, are not interested in the process that is still ongoing. As numbers of them will be deported again next week. Recent bad weather in the country will not affect the deportations of refugees, who are heading to the refugee centres, to receive them every time when the temperatures are low, and due to torrential rains.

Benhabyles talked about the tragedy that occurred in Ouargla Province last week, expressing deep solidarity with the family of the victim, but the incident is not new and is located between the sons of one neighbourhood, and by chance the accused in this time is an African.

“Justice will do its duty after the offender was arrested, and is currently being investigated. African immigrants who were in Ouergla province were evacuated to other cities, in order to avoid reactions of citizens and relatives of the victim, and they were not deported except with Nigerians only, and the other nationalities, there is no blueprint for this in the current period.”
