Benhamadi to Echorouk: “Reports on so-called opening of Algerie Telecom's capital is a plot hatched by Egypt”

The Algerian Minister of post, information technologies and telecommunications, Moussa Benhamadi, has formally denied reports saying that the government is intent on opening the capital of Algerie Telecom.

•  The Minister said that the announcement from Cairo of the opening of the Algerie Telecom’s capital was a plot hatched by the Egyptians aimed at dealing a blow to the stability of the Algerian enterprise and destabilizing it on the market.

• In a statement to Echorouk on the sidelines of the opening Thursday of the 2010/2011 judicial year, Mr Moussa Benhamadi indicated that the Egyptian media had deliberately distorted a declaration made recently in Cairo by a senior Algerian executive of Algerie Telecom who was present there to take part in a telecommunications congress, in order to covertly undermine the stability of Algerie Telecom on the global markets for unavowed reasons.

• Mr Benhamadi said that he had questioned this Algerian executive about the declaration he had made in Cairo and found out in his investigation that the Egyptian media had wittingly spread such a rumour for destabilization purposes.
