The Minister of the Interior and Local Assemblies, Noureddine Bedoui, said the Algerians with dual nationality will be allowed to return home with in their possession only the foreign passport without a visa and the Algerian identity card.

This was confirmed Thursday by Mr Aït Omar Mokhtar, the coordinator of the Movement of Algerians in France, in a telephone interview with “Echorouk”.

As a matter of fact, the Interior minister told the press after an inspection visit earlier this week to the Algerian Consulate of Bobigny in Paris (which took on another aspect dissimilar to that before the ministerial visit) that: “We pay great attention to the members of our national community living in France, and this concern prompted us to take immediate measures to greatly upgrade the management of all aspects related to the delivery of travel documents, including biometric passports”.

Mr Bedoui pledged that all necessary measures and arrangements will be made to address the lingering “imperfections” related to the processing and issuance of biometric passports.

About the delay recorded in the issuance of biometric passports, the Interior Minister promised to members of our community settled in France to speed up the ongoing process.

He further stated that the personnel of the National Centre for biometric passports located in the municipality of El Hamiz, on the eastern outskirts of Algiers, a production line ‘exclusively’ dedicated to the Algerian community abroad, is currently hard at work to carry through the delivery of passports within a time-frame not exceeding 48 hours.
