Bi-nationals excoriate their representatives: “We’ll get even with you in 2017 legislative polls!”
Associations representing the members of the national community in France firmly denounced the ratification of contentious Article 51 of the draft amendment of the national constitution by their representatives at the National People’s Assembly or lower house of Parliament.
Article 51 of this constitutional amendment has touched off the ire of members of the Algerian community settled abroad, as they find this controversial article discriminatory because it excludes them from having access to high positions in the state, arguing that they consider themselves as fully-fledged Algerians by virtue of the Constitution which guarantees their rights.
They also complain of the injustice, past and present; the past one during the colonial times which created two double-standard colleges and the present one which makes a difference between the country-based Algerians and those of the Diaspora.
And hence, they promised their representatives at the National People’s Assembly a stinging backlash at the next parliamentary elections scheduled for 2017, vowing that they won’t forget the latter’s damaging dereliction of duty.
