Border Police: Inspection of 11 Million People, 39 Algerians are Arrested

Over 547 Moroccan suspects who are suspected at the international airport, Houari Boumediene, coming from Morocco towards Libya, were arrested for security reasons, in order to be interrogated, before deporting 114 of them to Casablanca via Algiers airport, and 129 other were arrested in Oran Airport, after informing the authorities which decided to cancel all the flights from Algeria toward Libya, Border Police Director at the General Directorate of the National Security, Kouissem Hamid, said.
Police Inspector, Hamid Kouissem, added during the presentation of the Border Police outcome at the High School of Police in Château Neuve, that the detainees are aged between 22 and 26 years old, and they do not have residence cards in Libya, and on this basis they have been prevented from travelling, especially after receiving information about joining terrorist groups, as the couples who officially reside in this country benefited from travel facilities.
“Border police is the body that is tasked with monitoring the official crossings including ports, airports and land borders, as they subjected, over the past year, more than 11 million people to inspection, with a rise that represents 10.77% compared to last year, while the same services subjected over 1,364,282 vehicles to control.”
“In the framework of the border movement of Algerians and foreigners through the various border posts, we recorded the entry of 4,296,250 Algerians and 1246907 foreigners, with a total of 8,948,925 people, and we counted the exit of 4,652,675 Algerians, and 1,211,383 foreigners, with a total number of 2,458,290 people, and we also recorded 1934 border movement of journalists, and 3,397 national and foreign personalities.”
“Over 7,835 foreigners were expelled from the national territory, and 39 Algerians who are wanted by INTERPOL were arrested. Over 68 travellers’ documents were stolen, and 83 cars were retrieved.”
“Volume of import and export of various goods and fuel during 2015 reached 115,897,821 tons, compared to 110,542,238 tons during 2014, with an increase of 4.84%”.
“Border police services addressed, in the fight against crime in all its forms across the border, 3,404 cases, which resulted in the arrest of 3643 people, who were involved in various crimes like forgery, smuggling weapons, vehicles and other crimes, of them 246 people were in front of justice and 2,277 were transferred to the competent services.
