Bouteflika Appoints Ahmed Ouyahia As New Prime Minister

President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, ends on Tuesday, the duties of the Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and appoints Ahmed Ouyahia as new head of government, according to the presidencial statement.

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika completed the duties of the Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has been in office for only 80 days, and decided to appoint the head of the presidential office, Ahmed Ouyahia, as Prime Minister, APS reported.

“In accordance with article 91, paragraph 5 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, ended the duties of the Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tabboune”, the presidential statement said.

“According to the same constitutional provisions and after consultation with the parliamentary majority, the President of the Republic, Mr. Ahmed Ouyahia, is appointed Prime Minister”, it added.

Previously, Abdelmadjid Tabboune, was expected to join the palace of Dr. Saadane, on Tuesday after his holiday in France ended, which sparked controversy following his meeting with the French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe in an informal meeting that is a major reason for his dismissal.
