Bouteflika appoints four new prefects

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Thursday appointed new prefects in Bejaia, Bechar, Skikda and Sidi Belabbes.

The President’s Office said in a release that a partial reshuffle was conducted in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution.

“Mohamed Hattab who was the Prefect of Sidi Belabbes has been appointed as the Prefect of Bejaia. Tewfik Dziri who was Secretary General of Oran then Ain Defla has been appointed as the Prefect of Bechar to succeed Mohamed Medjdoub. Mohamed Hadjar who was Secretary General of Blida then Msila has been appointed as the Prefect of Skikda. Tahar Hachani who was Secretary General of Algiers has been appointed as the Prefect of Sidi Belabbes,” said the release.

Former Prefect of Bejaia Ouled Salah Zitouni was dismissed for “serious professional mistakes.” 

Earlier in October, President Bouteflika conducted a large reshuffle to Prefects. Nine of them were retired.
