Bouteflika gets large popular welcomes in Tlemcen
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika received a special welcome when he arrived on Saturday to the province of Tlemcen (west of Algiers) on a working visit.
- State’s officials including former President Ahmed Ben Bella, president of the Council of the Nation Abdelkader Ben Saleh and members of the cabinet received the president.
- Bouteflika had walked on the main street of the city for 15 minutes to wave to people while they had been waiting for him under the sun for more than five hours.
- This comes as part of Tlemcen, the Capital of the Islamic Culture event. Early on Friday, Bouteflika delivered a speech to the nation to announce political reforms.
- Algerian water minister Abdelmalek Sellal told Echorouk he expected the announced political measures.
