Bouteflika: Government to launch initiative to train journalists

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Tuesday announced that the government will conduct a large-scale operation soon to train journalists and improve their level.
- Bouteflika said he assigned the cabinet to speed up the work of legal and regulatory modifications workshop and revise the media law.
- In a letter to journalists on the international day for press freedom, the president said the government will launch a large-scale operation to train journalists and improve their level with the help of national and foreign expertise.
- Bouteflika called on all journalists, publishers and expression freedom defenders to reactivate ethics council. “Journalists should be aware of their duties, bear their responsibility and organise themselves.”
