Bouteflika keeps silence on visit to Tamnrasset
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Tuesday kept silence on his visit to Tamnrasset (south of Algiers) while the province’s notables kept their promises to make the visit successful.
- A day before the visit, the notables mobilised people to welcome Bouteflika while his visit lasted for two hours only. He did not make any statement.
- Tamnrasset benefited from 243 billion DZ to support development as part of the five-year-plan. Bouteflika’s visit focused on the project worth 197 billion DZ to transfer water from Ain Saleh to Tamnrasset along 750 km.
- The project will ensure the stability of Tamnrasset’s residents as it provides 50,000 cubic metres of drinking water until 2050.
- The president inaugurated a part of the Trans-Sahara Highway between Tamnrasset and Ain Guezzam along 420 km. It is the last part of Algeria’s share in the African project which links Algeria to Nigeria along 9,000 km.
