Algerian foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra said President Abdelaziz Bouteflika launched a new initiative for dialogue between Libya’s protagonists.

The initiative comes upon request from Libyan political personalities to restore peace and rebuild the country’s institutions.

“We hope that our Libyan brothers get out from this crisis strong. As far as we are concerned, Libya is going through a difficult time in its history. Certainly, it is not about a falling state but a state facing difficulties. It has enough wise, competences and resources to overcome them,” Lamamra said in a meeting about Libya.

“We are ready to help them in using peace as we are neighbors. Upon request from Libyan politicians, the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika decided to launch an initiative for a national comprehensive dialogue in Libya. It is meant to reach national reconciliation and reinforce Libya’s institutions,” he added.

He also said preparatory consultations are going on with representatives’ chamber. “A delegation of them was invited to visit Algeria in the next few days.”
