Bouteflika to address Algerians on April 16

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will address the people, in the visit he will conduct on April 16th to Tlemcen province, to inaugurate the festivities of Tlemcen: The Capital of the Islamic Culture.

This long awaited speech is seen to be important, regarding the circumstances Algeria is going through. In fact, President Bouteflika has already addressed the nation at the occasion of Victory Day (March 19th) where he pledged to launch reforms, without giving further details. Yet, rumours were circulating a couple of weeks ago that President Bouteflika had met with head of constitutional institutions and discussed with them the issue of the dissolution of the Parliament and establishment of a constitutional council.

However, Presidency services are preparing the visit of President to Tlemcen, where he is due to inaugurate several projects constructed exclusively to the festivity, including a cultural centre in the historical city of Mansourah and another huge Islamic and Andalusian studies research centre in Tlemcen downtown.
