Côte d’Ivoire: Algerian community ask for evacuation
Members of the Algerian community in Côte d’Ivoire called on authorities to deport them to Algeria because of security situation while other Arab countries like Lebanon evacuated its nationals.
- The Algerian nationals told Echorouk on Saturday they are afraid of being killed in the Ivorian capital. Defeated presidential candidate Laurent Gbagbo armed militias to wage a guerrilla war. Foreigners living in Côte d’Ivoire are staying home and do not leave even to buy food and water.
- Though the Algerian ambassador to Abidjan asked about their news, the Algerian nationals said he can not leave his home as all the foreigners.
- “Every white person is an enemy,” they say.
