Cement factory project in Sigous cancelled

Well informed sources told the newspaper “Echorouk” that the project pertaining to the achievement of a factory in charge of producing industrial cement in the Sigous municipality in the province of Oum El Bouaghi (eastern Algeria) has been scrapped by the government.  

• Such a decision was taken on the basis of a fact-finding report drafted by a special ministerial committee which brought out a series of glaring lapses and illegal practices in the achievement process of this cement factory.

• It should be noted that that the enterprise in charge of this project is the Egyptian company Orascom.
•  
• After an in-depth investigation by the relevant authorities, the ministerial committee report stated that the Egyptian company had not fulfilled its commitments in terms of Algerian law abidance in the implementation of this project.
