Chakib Khalil: I do not want any position
Algeria’s former energy minister Chakib Khalil Friday said he does not want to hold any official position and does not have any political ambition.
Khalil was honoured by Sidi Mahieddine Zawia in the province of Mascara. He was accompanied by his brother and the chief of the Zawias National Organization Abdelkader Yacine. There was no official protocol during the event.
At the main gate of the Zawia, Khalil was offered a white burnous (an Algerian traditional clothe) before being received by Quran students. He listened to them reciting the Quran and was invited to have lunch. He performed Friday’s Prayer and listened to a preach.
Khalil said he does not want to hold any position and he does not have any political ambition. He only have brotherly messages and his intention is part of brotherhood with those who invite him.
