Child who disappeared in Constantine Hospital found
It was 6: 20 PM on Friday when Ms. Asmahan Kawa arrived to Ben Chergui neighborhood in Constantine (eastern Algeria), accompanied by her husband, and embracing her son in tears, she was saying, “I do not believe that my son came back to me”, amid a joyful atmosphere with gunpowder and 10 thousand citizens.
Security services and gendarmerie in Tmalous, western Skikda, arrested before Friday prayers, a lady 48, who lives in the neighborhood of Blaska Mouloud, downtown Tamalous city, after a series of inquiries and investigations about her, following information that they received three days ago, and which said that a woman who was divorced earlier because of infertility, and who is newly married to an French elderly, in the sixties, claimed that since about 20 days, she gave birth to a boy at the level of the maternity and childhood services in the hospital of Constantine (eastern Algeria), as she tried to convince the people through organizing a ceremony, which is a tradition that was attended by a lot of people of the region, and on the basis of these facts, gendarmerie services track details of the issue, and verified the received information, in coordination with the judicial police of Constantine security services, and following the notification of the prosecutor at the primary court of Tamalous, her house was raided and she was arrested and a baby, who was kidnapped 17 days after birth at Constantine maternity service, was retrieved.
Preliminary information and evidence confirmed that the baby Laith Kawa, who was kidnapped on May 17th, especially since the accused said during the preliminary investigation that her baby, was brought from the city of Constantine on May 27, and added that she received him after paying a sum of money amid implication of parties from within the hospital, according to informed sources.
Elements of police and gendarmerie, who were in charge of investigating in the case, transferred the accused at the level of Tamalous hospital, where they subjected her to medical analysis, and made it sure that she did not give birth, during the last days, and did not get pregnant at all, and had claimed that she carried out a Caesarean section, as the father of ” Laith was called in “Constantine, after the procedures of sending the baby to his hometown to make sure that he was the baby who was kidnapped weeks ago from Constantine, an issue that raised a large controversy in the national scene, and drove out the inhabitants of Constantine to protest.
For reference, the population of Tamalous expressed large discontent and indignation due to this heinous crime against the baby and his parents, demanding the application of strict penalties against the woman.
The accused is an employee at the Agency of Organization and Management of Real Estate in Tamalous City branch, and her husband is currently wanted.
Parents of Laith were summoned by the police services, but they will not take Laith with them only after he will be subjected to DNA tests, to reassure everyone’s heart, noting that the parents were subjected to the tests immediately after the kidnapping of Leith (May 19).
Sources asserted that the accused did not kidnap the child but asked other parties, which one of them may be her husband, who is still on the run, and a former immigrant, and who have sons in France, and who married with the accused five years ago, and knew that her sadness in life is infertility, as she refused to have a boy from childhood centers, and has decided since months plan a scenario of pregnancy which ended with “Laith” kidnap, which will lead her to jail along with a lot of involved, as it is expected that workers from the university hospital in Constantine, will be punished because of neglect.
