Dozens of citizens from border regions in Telemcen (Western Algeria), most of them are traders, protested on Sunday, near the checkpoint n• 35 at the road linking Ramchi and the border areas.

Protesters expressed refusal to the law on customs regulation, especially in light of the commitment of the Customs Regional Directorate to the texts of the law on customs regulation, that is in work, despite the instruction of Telemcen governor in interim, who is general secretary, to freeze working with the law until the end of summer season, but the situation remains the same making a lot of traders continue their protests which noticed dangerous developments.

Echorouk visited the area of Boukanoune where citizens set fire in tires and blocked the road at night on last Friday.

Days ago they closed the road linking Marsa Ben Mhidi and Meghagha, expressing their refusal of the situation, that is described by customs as an application of laws.

Previously, customs recorded an overflow of goods, while pharmaceuticals and food products were on top of the goods that entered the customs’ control, forcing them to raise dangerous reports on some products, as the issue of customs law remains the most important deterrent laws on smuggling foods and other products, which is considered by the region’s traders as tough and has negative consequences on the reality of their life there.
