Conflict between journalists and the minister in the offing

The movement for the” journalist’s dignity” has announced in a communiqué, to which Echourouk received a copy, its withdrawal from the consultative committee in charge of the elaboration of the journalists salary scale.

• The decision came in the wake of the communication minister’s order to sideline the representative of the initiative makers and reduce his role to an observatory one all along the negotiations, it said.

•  

• To recall, journalists from the print and public service media have raised their grievances to the minister through a document in a move to enhance their socio- professional conditions.

•  

• But the minister Nacer Mhel didn’t respect his commitment towards them and denied the right to their representative to take part to the rounds of negotiations.

•  

•   The minister’s move coincides with the issue of a draft law to be discussed by the parliament that encompasses revisions of a number of provisions decided by the pres Bouteflika over the decriminalization of the journalistic act.
