Conflicts undermine education sector’s unions over mega housing project

Deep conflicts broke out between various independent unions of the education sector over a 65 thousand units building project dedicated to the education personnel, despite the assurance of the education union that revealed that one thousand housing units project is underway in eastern Algiers.

  • The National Education Union has warned the employees of the sector against “ falling in the trap” in the wake of numerous calls coming from different parts of the country over the “ mega project they heard about”.

  • In a communiqué, to which Echourouk received a copy, the union has bluntly declared “ How come a union can achieve what the Algerian state failed to do ?” . The communiqué” went on” The Algerian authorities have acknowledged their failure to achieve the housing projects they subscribed in the five-year plan 2004- 2009 “.

  • News posted on the Education workers’ Union website reveals that an agreement was struck with Turkish, Malaysian and Iranian companies to build 65 thousand housing units for the benefit of the sector’s personnel, but spokesman of the UNPAF has indicated that “the project was illusionary and unlawful”.
