Convicts in the failed assassination attempt against Algeria President Bouteflika start appeals

Judicial sources told Echorouk Newspaper that the defendants in the case of attempt to assassinate President Bouteflika in Batna, east of Algeria, began appeals in the criminal court, last Thursday.

 The main accused “Z.Walid” appealed the death sentence against him, along with “Th.Mohamed Lamine” owner of the Ford car, who also appealed the 15 years prison sentenced.

The accused “A.Hicham” appealed a similar sentence with “H.W”, “Z.Walid” and “Kh.Imad” sentenced to financial compensation.

Lawyers will wait until next Thursday to begin in the preparation of memoranda for appeal after receiving the letter recommended and will focus the appeal on aspects of the veto in the proceedings without the subject, because the criminal chamber of the Supreme Court is a court of law that will consider in the integrity of legal proceedings during the trial, especially the complex questions.
