Echorouk called the head of the National Committee for Fishing at the Union of Algerian Traders and Craftsmen, Houssine Belloute, who confirmed that he had met late last week with officials at the Commerce Ministry in order to put an end to speculation in the price of fish.
“Inflation of the fish prices is limited to some markets where there is no surveillance, or traders who do not pay attention to the month of compassion, and their goal is only profit. In some cities like Skikda, the price of a kilogram of Shrimp and whiting reached 1,000 ZDZ. Consumers should show awareness and stand against encouraging speculation in prices.
