Crime drops 30% in Algeria in four years

ALGIERS- Crime dropped over 30 percent in Algeria over the past four years, said Sunday here Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.

During the presentation of the Government’s general policy statement before the members of the Council of Nation, Ouyahia underlined that the doubling of the strength of the National Police and Gendarmerie and their deployment throughout the country “have enabled curb crime rate by over 30 percent in four years.”

The prime minister also highlighted the reform of justice, with as main objective the strengthening of the protection of rights and freedoms as well as the protection of public heritage and the general interest, mentioning, in this regard, the increasing number of magistrates and the significant improvement in their training.
