Customs: Dangerous flights from Nine countries

Inspectorate of the customs’ sections at the Airport of Houari Boumediene, seized on Friday 20.000 Euros which were in possession of a Turkish national, and classified Nine countries in the category of dangerous, after becoming the first destination for smuggling hard currency outward, money laundering, and the smuggling of significant quantities of psychotropic substances that are classified as na alternative to cocaine.
Official source at the Inspectorate of Customs’ sections at Houari Boumediene Airport told Echorouk, after strict inspection of passengers luggage, especially those traveling from Houari Boumedienne Airport to Istanbul, within nine o’clock at night, and after the customs received information stating the existence of an operation to smuggle foreign currency, in which the Turkish smuggler, 35, tried to pass this currency in a large size bug, but customs officers, through passing luggage in a scanner, managed to book more than 20.000 euros.
This process, according to the same official, came in the context of tightening surveillance operations that are carried out by services of the Algerian Customs, after the increasing number of illegal smuggling of foreign currency outward.
Previously, same services foiled an operation to smuggle more than 200.000 Euros, the equivalent of 7 billion centimes of the national currency, that was hidden inside a bag of a gold merchant, who was heading towards Istanbul aboard Air Algerie, as they also seized, during the same period, 40.000 Euros that were in possession of a passenger who was were going to “smuggle” them towards Istanbul, Turkey, on board of an Air Algerie flight, in addition to 10.000 dollars.
An official source at the inspectorate of customs’ sections at Houari Boumediene Airport said that their services developed a joint mechanism to tighten control on some flights coming from Arab and European countries, after the discovery of the smuggling of hard currency and psychotropic substances that are classified in the degree of alternative cocaine.
“The new mechanism includes imposing control on worker of international lines, and it comes to France, Spain, Turkey, London, Tunisia, Dubai, Qatar, after discovering that there are smuggling networks of hard currency and psychotropic substances which resort to flights for smuggling, after the security stifling in the land border with Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, by the border police and Algerian customs.
