Customs Seize Container of Spy Gadgets in Algiers Port
Customs services of Algiers port seized a container of 40 feet that was packed with 9000 gadgets that are used in spying, including 1,900 DVR and 20 devices that are provided with a WIFI system, as these devices are banned from import without a license, as the security services opened extensive investigations in the case.
Regional Manager of Algiers Port, the General Comptroller, Issa Boudergui, told Echorouk that the main defendant in the case gave false statements, stating that the container that was imported from abroad contains electronic devices of the type “Electronic Items”, but after the careful inspection, the same official adds, through passing the container through the scanner and automated control system, and after reading the image by agents, they found suspicious things.
“After this operation the container was opened and inspected manually by customs officers, as they seized 8869 gadgets, including 8589 surveillance cameras, 1,900 gadgets of the type DVR, and 20 other devices that are equipped with WIFI, and 962 Electronic controllers, and 200 “HDM”, and and other sensitive gadgets that are used primarily to spy on state institutions and official residences, even the secrets of citizens, with a financial value that exceed 9 billion.”
