Customs: Seizure of 500 spying kits at Algiers International Airport
The services of the Customs Inspectorate of the Houari Boumediene International Airport of Algiers have seized a sizable batch of sensitive equipment meant for spying practices similar to that used by the Mossad and the FBI intelligence services.
As a matter of fact, these spying devices coming from Qatar and bound for Algiers and other areas of several major provinces of the country, number 500 and cost DZ 120 million centimes each.
The seizure was made following information received at the Customs Inspectorate of Algiers International airport, citing the presence of this sensitive equipment on the flight number QR 566 coming from Qatar.
This material, commonly used by Israeli and American secret services in espionage operations, consists of miniature high-resolution cameras and drones which were concealed in big bags.
According to the confessions of the arrested defendants, it appears that this sensitive material was intended for certain people of the wilayas or provinces of Algiers, Setif and the Algerian South, where many oil bases are located.
The investigation, according to “Echorouk” sources, is ongoing to determine the origin of these spying kits and to identity the recipients as this highly sensitive classified material that cannot be imported without a permit from the Ministry of National Defense.
The standing question raised now is whether this espionage material was not intentionally sent by a hostile intelligence service to a covert national spying network to deal a blow to Algeria’s security and harm its people’s private lives.
