Death penalty for child killing and 20 years in prison for child molestation
Algerian Justice Minister, Tayeb Louh, is expected to expound on Monday before the deputies of the National Popular Assembly or lower house of Parliament, a new draft law providing for tougher legal sanctions against those defendants found guilty of child killing or child molestation after an act of abduction or aggression under all its forms.
The new revised draft law also provides for reinforced legal measures with heavy prison sentences to be handed down against all those rounded up on proven charges of involvement in terroristactivities or logistic support for terrorist groups.
The new draft law also bolsters the penalties against ransom payments to terrorist groups in case of kidnapping and blackmail as part of the sustained anti-terrorist struggle and the smothering of terrorism financing under all its forms.
The move is geared to highlighting Algeria’s adamant stand on the matter in the hope of persuading still wavering world countries to follow suit with the adoption of a cleat-cut and unyielding strategy against terrorism financing under all circumstances.
With regard to the creeping child abduction phenomenon here in Algeria, the new draft law to be expounded by the Justice Minister before the MP’s provides for the imposition of capital punishment for killers of children and a 20 – year long prison sentence for those indicted on charges of child abduction and child abuse.
