Djamel Ould Abbas Excoriates His Party’s Opponents after Returning from Russia

Secretary General of the National Liberation Front Party (FLN), Djamel Ould Abbas opened fire on the critics of his latest speech, saying: “Those who attack the old party, are jealous of it because President Bouteflika is the party president,” and reiterated that the FLN party will create great surprises in the upcoming local polls and this will be a telling response to his political opponents.

 Mr. Ould Abbas took advantage of his first appearance yesterday, immediately after his return from the Russian capital, Moscow, where he represented the President of the Republic at the World Forum on the Unified Peoples, to respond to his political opponents, by addressing them in a new harsh tone: “Who is disturbed by these speeches? “The National Liberation Front (FLN) is the state and everyone who says the opposite is jealous of the fact that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is the President of the party.

Mr. Ould Abbas continued his attack on those party leaders who criticized his last speech, He declared: “Whoever attacks the FLN party tries to cover up the failure of his party in the smooth conduct of the ongoing election campaign, adding that the FLN is still the absolute majority party and we represent the people as we represent 700,000 Algerian families,” he argued.

On the other hand, Mr. Djamel Ould Abbas retreated from his recent statement on the Presidency. He recently used every media outlet to confirm that the local polls were only preparations for the 2019 Presidential elections, stressing in this line that the next President of the Republic would doubtless hail from the FLN party.

“I gave an instruction to the FLN militants to avoid talking about the presidential polls of 2019”, he asserted but without giving further details on the backdrop of this about-turn.
