Droudkal decides on Al-Qaeda leadership conflict in Sahel
National leader of the so-called Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb Abdelmalek Droudkal decided on a conflict between Mauritanian and Algerian fighters about the leadership of Tarek Ibn Ziad battalion, one of the terrorist organization most important battalions in the Sahel region.
The conflict started following the appointment of Abdellah Changuiti as a member in the Shura Council then Al-Qaeda’s judge before he had been killed in the province of Batna (east of Algiers). Abu Zaid remained the battalion leader but the dispute was triggered once again after his death.
According to Nouakchott news agency, Droudkal appointed Abu Said to succeed Abu Zaid and Mauritanian Abderrahmane alias Talha on the head of Furkane brigade.
Abu Said is a very active member of the battalion which constitutes a funding source for Al-Qaeda either through smuggling or kidnappings. He joined the Sahel region in the 1970’s as he was closed to Abu Zaid.
