Ebola: Algeria closes borders and forbids Africans to enter it

Health department in coordination with provincial authorities in the province of Adrar (south of Algeria) took measures to fight Ebola virus. This comes as a first infection case was reported in Mali.

Authorities decided to continue closing borders and forbid Africans to enter Timiaouine and Bordj Badji Mokhtar, border areas between Algeria and Mali.

Surveillance measures were also stepped up on all the ways linking between Mali and Niger.

Health department director told Echorouk authorities are determined to face the fatal virus. Special teams are mobilized to follow the situation through surveillance cameras at airports.

On land borders, mobilized units were ordered to examine all the passengers and forbid any suspicious person to enter Algeria.  

The director also said isolation centers were established in three areas in the Timiaouine, Reggane and Adrar hospitals. They are equipped with sophisticated machines, medical devices and necessary medicines to fight Ebola virus.
