Echorouk newspaper has snatched the Arab Youth Media Award, in a big gala held in Dubai, in the Emirates, attended by media and politics figures, including Echorouk CEO Ali Foudil.

The Award has been attributed to journalist Kada Ben Amar who participated with a long report on his adventure in the Israeli Bir al-Saba prison in the occupied lands of Palestine. Kada Ben Amar survived death when he was on board Mavi Marmara Liberty Fleet, following a raid perpetuated by Israeli commandos in the Mediterranean Sea, killing several activists. He was abducted with several other activists and then detained in Bir Saba prison. Kada Ben Amar’s reports were hailed by the arbitration award which remarked tha “the journalist succeeded in drawing the light on humanitarian sides of his experience in the Liberty Fleet, with a modern and easygoing style.”

Kada with tears on eyes dedicated the trophy to his mother “because she was taken by panic and fear when the raid on the fleet was aired on TV, and I’d like to dedicate it to the martyrs who were killed during the raid for the sake of Palestine and the besieged Gaza.”

CEO of Echorouk, Ali Foudil, said this award was expected regarding the nature of the stories of Kada Ben Amar. He further mentioned that the referees were impressed by the work, adding that the trophy is a tribute to all Echorouk staff which has been working hard to present such a high quality material to the reader inside and outside Algeria.
