Echorouk, third most influential newspaper on Arab public opinion

According to website ranking company Alexa, Algeria’s Echorouk is still the newspaper No 1 in the Arab world. Forbes ranked it third in terms of the most popular news websites in the Arab World.

    In a ceremony organised on Wednesday in Dubai, Forbes President Steve Forbes said he is very excited about having a partnership with Dar Anasher Al Arabi which was chosen out of 20 edition houses.

    “We were lucky for contacting many parts here in the Middle East which wanted to enter in partnership with Forbes. Yet, Dar Anasher Al Arabi was our ultimate choice due to our common vision. Forbes Middle East has some of the best reporters and journalists. Most of them are gifted in economic journalism,” said vice-president of Forbes Robert Forbes.

    The ceremony was followed by the announcement of the Forbes Middle East list of the 50 strongest newspapers on the Internet in 2010 in the Arab World. Doctor Nacer Attayar and Robert Forbes honoured the first ten newspapers. Echorouk was ranked third.

    Echorouk’s publisher Ali Fodil got an exceptional welcome from the study organisers and most of the Arab newspaper’s directors. They were unanimous to say that Echorouk deserves this price as it proved its Arab presence on many occasions.

     

    Alexa ranks Echorouk first in Algeria and the Arab World

    Alexa’s international ranking shows that Echorouk is the leader of the Algerian and Arab newspapers. Local ranking shows that Echorouk is in the top on all levels especially circulation. It reached 2 million during a match between Algeria and Egypt.

  • Few days after being ranked by the prestigious magazine Forbes as the third most influential newspaper in the Arab world in a ceremony held in Dubai, numerous Algerian former ministers and outstanding historical figures congratulated Echourok newspaper for this unprecedented achievement that they consider as a crowing glory for the Algerian media.

  • For his part the former minister Abderrehmane Belaayat has declared “ Echourok has reached the summit, and before delving into the causes of this success let me just congratulate the newspaper and its staff for this achievement that placed it among the biggest Arab newspapers… I can tell it without any flattery or exaggeration that Echorok embodies the Algerian originality”.

  • The former hero of the Algerian revolution Lakhdar Bouragaa has indicated that Echourok’s achievement are not “ easy to reach” and that what pushed Forbes to classify it among the most influential Arab media. However,  he warned against any kind of manipulation in the future because, as he put it, the Americans intents wherever innocent can be, they remain suspicious… He further added that reaching the symbolic million copy a day is not an easy task”

    • Aboudjerra Soltani had paid a warm tribute to Echorouk for its meritorious ranking by Forbes magazine as the third most influential newspaper on Arab public opinion despite the harsh competition in the buoyant Arab media arena.
    • The MSP leader said that Echorouk’s achievement was an honour for Algeria and for the emerging national media scene.
    • He also praized Echorouk for its unflagging efforts in the defense of all just causes around the world notably the high-profile Palestinian cause in all circumstances.
