Echorouk, third most influential newspaper on Arab public opinion

According to website ranking company Alexa, Algeriaâ€™s Echorouk is still the newspaper No 1 in the Arab world. Forbes ranked it third in terms of the most popular news websites in the Arab World.

In a ceremony organised on Wednesday in Dubai, Forbes President Steve Forbes said he is very excited about having a partnership with Dar Anasher Al Arabi which was chosen out of 20 edition houses.

“We were lucky for contacting many parts here in the Middle East which wanted to enter in partnership with Forbes. Yet, Dar Anasher Al Arabi was our ultimate choice due to our common vision. Forbes Middle East has some of the best reporters and journalists. Most of them are gifted in economic journalism,” said vice-president of Forbes Robert Forbes.

The ceremony was followed by the announcement of the Forbes Middle East list of the 50 strongest newspapers on the Internet in 2010 in the Arab World. Doctor Nacer Attayar and Robert Forbes honoured the first ten newspapers. Echorouk was ranked third.

Echorouk’s publisher Ali Fodil got an exceptional welcome from the study organisers and most of the Arab newspaper’s directors. They were unanimous to say that Echorouk deserves this price as it proved its Arab presence on many occasions.

Alexa ranks Echorouk first in Algeria and the Arab World
Alexa’s international ranking shows that Echorouk is the leader of the Algerian and Arab newspapers. Local ranking shows that Echorouk is in the top on all levels especially circulation. It reached 2 million during a match between Algeria and Egypt.
Few days after being ranked by the prestigious magazine Forbes as the third most influential newspaper in the Arab world in a ceremony held in Dubai, numerous Algerian former ministers and outstanding historical figures congratulated Echourok newspaper for this unprecedented achievement that they consider as a crowing glory for the Algerian media.

“ I seize this opportunity to congratulate Echourok for this achievement and the high level of professionalism it has reached, being the first Algerian newspaper and one of the most influential in the Arab world means that it comprises highly skilled journalists who posses a great sense of acuteness and are aware of their society’s interests… this achievement reflects the newspaper’s sense of responsibility towards its readership and commitment to tackle their issues and its not that easy to achieve.. I consider the classification of Echourok by the US magazine as the third most influential Arab newspaper a proof of its credibility and professionalism based upon soundness and objectivity..”
Sid Ahmed Ghozali ( Former Prime Minister): Hot files were behind Echourok success

The former Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali has linked the success of the newspaper to its stubbornness to treat hot and sensitive issues as he has declared that this achievement was made possible thanks to the newspaper’s commitment to tackle complex files despite numerous hurdles… One has to admit that Echourok succeeded amid a hostile environment for the Algerian press and wish for it all the best in the future”.
Abderrrahmane Belaayat( former minister): “ Echourok embodies the Algerian originality”

For his part the former minister Abderrehmane Belaayat has declared “ Echourok has reached the summit, and before delving into the causes of this success let me just congratulate the newspaper and its staff for this achievement that placed it among the biggest Arab newspapers… I can tell it without any flattery or exaggeration that Echorok embodies the Algerian originality”.
Lakhdar Bouragaa( Revolutionary figure): “Reaching 1 million copy is not easy”

The former hero of the Algerian revolution Lakhdar Bouragaa has indicated that Echourok’s achievement are not “ easy to reach” and that what pushed Forbes to classify it among the most influential Arab media. However, he warned against any kind of manipulation in the future because, as he put it, the Americans intents wherever innocent can be, they remain suspicious… He further added that reaching the symbolic million copy a day is not an easy task”
Mohammed Boaazara ( Parliament member): Echourok is the Algerians’ pride

The parliamentarian Mohammed Bouaazara has indicated that Echourok was the Algerians’ pride and its staff has proven that whenever you give the opportunity to the youngsters you reach success in all the domains notably in the media field.. “

Aboudjerra Soltani (Leader of the movement of a society of peace, MSP)
“Echorouk has honoured Algeria and the Algerian Press”

Aboudjerra Soltani had paid a warm tribute to Echorouk for its meritorious ranking by Forbes magazine as the third most influential newspaper on Arab public opinion despite the harsh competition in the buoyant Arab media arena.
The MSP leader said that Echorouk’s achievement was an honour for Algeria and for the emerging national media scene.
He also praized Echorouk for its unflagging efforts in the defense of all just causes around the world notably the high-profile Palestinian cause in all circumstances.

The leader of the Algerian national front party, Moussa Touati, has said that Echorouk highly deserves this praiseworthy status as third most influential newspaper on the Arab media scene.$
He said that this achievement was the result of the sound policy adopted by the management staff and the sustained efforts made by Echorouk’s journalists on the way to success despite the difficulty of the daily task and the tough competition on the national media scene.
Djamel Benabdesslam (Leader of the movement of national reform party)

The leader of the movement of national reform party, Djamel Benabdesslam, has extolled Echorouk for this major achievement stressing that it had been made thanks to the meritorious efforts of all the newspaper’s editorial staff and its leading management body.
He said that the successful itinerary of Echorouk over the past ten years should be a telling example for other national media outlets to forge ahead by leaps and bounds by extending further their readership similarly to the towering Echorouk.

The leader of Ennahdah movement, Fethi Rebai, has asserted that the newspaper Echorouk fully deserves this third ranking as the most influential newspaper on the Arab public opinion by the US Forbes magazine and wished Echorouk further successes in its lofty mission at the service of the Algerian nation.

“Echorouk’s bright achievement is that of all the Algerians”

The leader of the movement of change, Abdelmadjid Menasra, has indicated that Echorouk’s great achievement was that of all the Algerians.
He said that this major breakthrough meant that the Algerian media outlets had a solid place on the Arab scene.
Menasra also commended the managers and all the journalists of Echorouk for their arduous efforts which have been crowned with success, he said.
