Echourok stand under the spotlights at Algiers International Book Fair

Echourok’s stand at Algiers International Book Fair was literally invaded by visitors of all age and class categories since the beginning of this important cultural event. Thousands flocked to the pavilion in a bid to know about intricacies of journalism and seize the opportunity to acquire the three books put at the disposal of the large public

  •  The final estimates revealed that the book entitled “ After bullets… Islamists and hot issues” written by the professor Nadir Masmoudi took the lead of then sales with 900 copies mostly autographed by its author and more than  400 ordered by libraries.

  • The book “campaign for hatred” to its author Ahmed Adhimi came second with 6650 copies sold then followed by “ The political regime in the Arab and Islamic though” written by the professor Salah Aoudh.

  • The authors were utterly surprised by the great affluence of the readers on their literary works regardless of their age and social status.

  • The first experience of its kind in Algeria was widely commented and praised by politicians, literary figures and publishers; among them the culture minister Khalida Toumi has declared “ All major media companies around the world have their books published on regular basis because the relationship between media and books are complementary and inseparable…The ministry is ready to assist and accompany this project”.

  • For his part, the doctor Amine Azzaoui has indicated that Echourok was a major media company and has to sponsor books and participate in its emancipation because it posses the missing link in book industry which is promotion.

  • A group of ministers who visited fair including Amar Ghoul, Smail Mimoun, Abdelmalek Sellal and Hadi Khaldi have dwelt on this experience and prasied the initiative that they consider as a healthy sign in the Algerian culture.
