Economy: Algeria prone to raising import bill

Many poultry farmers are threatening to boycott investment in these livestock, because of several problems that have taken away the desire to work in this field, Vice President of the National Bureau for Poultry Farming, Aid Noureddine told Echorouk.

“Low prices of red meat in some cities because of foot and mouth disease, has led to the survival of the price of chicken fell down after the consumption of white meat declined on July and August, as chicken breeders took advantage of profits in this period to compensate the loss during winter.”
“Government is talking about imposing taxation on investors in poultry, in the next few days, which could open the door to the migration of many of them from this agricultural activity, especially that poultry farmers in the eastern cities are angry due to the control on the import bill of food for poultry to avoid smuggling them.”
Deputy chairman of the National Office for Poultry Farming, said that the most important problem that is facing investment in white meat, is the lack of industrial carnage that is claimed by thousands of breeders of chickens in Algeria, as they found themselves in front of a big loss after slaughtering poultry that cannot be sold in numbers.
