Algerian education minister Nouria Benghebrit will open school year 2015-2016 due to start on September 6th. Invitations were sent to education unions to organizations of pupils’ parents to attend the opening ceremony, Echorouk has learnt.

The first lesson will be about solidarity in society during crises and disasters. It was chosen by European countries to raise awareness about helping refugees and immigrants in different places in the world.

The ministry told a radio program on Thursday that pupils will have all their lessons in 32 weeks and 4 weeks will be allocated for assessment.

She added that the ministry plans to extend pre-school education and teaching Amazigh language. Dialogue will be reinforced with social partners and main languages will be taught in primary schools.

“There are no new books for the school program except computer book. Pupils who failed in the Baccalaureate exam and did not repeat any school year will join special classrooms,” she said.

Speaking about teaching language, the minister said teachers will use Arabic in primary schools.
