Egypt asks Algeria to support its candidates to preside UNESCO
Algeria’s Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia Tuesday received Mohamed Al-Arabi, former foreign minister and Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sissi’s special envoy.
The Prime Ministry issued a release, saying Al-Arabi conveyed a message to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Egypt’s Ambassador to Algiers Amr Abu Aiche said Ouyahia expressed condolences following Monday’s terror attack on security forces northern Sinai.
Abu Aiche told the Middle east News Agency Al-Arabi’s visit comes as part of Egyptian efforts to support Ambassador Mushira Khattab to be elected as Secretary General of the UNESCO.
The elections will be held in October.
The Ambassador added that Al-Arabi who is Khattab’s electoral campaign director plans to visit states to reinforce Egypt’s role to hold the position of the UNESCO’s Secretary General.
