Egypt New Ambassador to Algiers: Algeria A Key Nation

The new Ambassador of Egypt to Algiers, Ezzedine Fahmi is due to arrive next Sunday to present his credentials to the Foreign Minister, Mourad Medelci, and become the first new Egyptian ambassador to be appointed after the 25 January Revolution.

Diplomatic sources told Echorouk that the mission of the newly appointed ambassador’s mission consists in working on definitively closing the strife-torn era between Algeria and Egypt, and open a brand new page. 

Ambassador Ezzeddine Fahmi is set to land on Algeria next Sunday, to succeed his compatriot Ambassador Abdel Aziz Seif El-Nasr, after four year service in Algeria. 

The new Egypt Ambassador to Algiers has been received by Egypt Foreign Minister Nabil al Arabi on Tuesday in Cairo, where they discussed priority tasks to be fulfilled urgently in Algeria. 

After the meeting, Ambassador Fahmi told reporters that “Algeria remains a key country in the North African region,” adding that “Foreign Minister Nabil al-Arabi has assigned me the mission to boost and warm up bilateral relations between the two Arab nations, which are bound to a bright past and promising future in all sectors.”

Responding to a question of Echorouk reporter in Cairo, on how to end the crisis hitting relations between Algeria and Egypt, Mr Fahmi said the Revolution of 25 January intervened to put an end to that short-lived crisis, adding that he is to work hard to restore strong relations between Cairo and Algiers meant to face together the common challenges to serve their common interests.

He further assumed that the Arab region is experiencing a crucial era which requires unifying efforts of the Arab nations to face political and economic challenges.
