Egypt will receive JS Kabylie with flowers, says Al Ahly’s former player

Member of the Egyptian Football Federation and Al Ahly’s former player Madjdi Abdelghani said the match between JS Kabylie and Al Ahly due to be held on August 29th will not be out of its sportive and brotherhood context. “JS Kabylie will get a hearty welcome,” he told Echorouk in an interview.

  • Everyone is waiting for the match between Al Ahly and JS Kabylie amid fears among the Algerian fans. Do you think that those fears are logic?
  •
  • No not all. We can never insult our Algerian brothers. The match will remain in its sportive context. The Algerian players will get a hearty welcome.
  •
  • Remarks made by Al Ahly’s coach and some players like Ahmed Hassan caused tension.
  •
  • Let’s me say something. All the remarks made by Al Ahly’s players and technical staff did not insult the Algerian people. They only criticised the referee. Any team are allowed to criticise referees’ decision. The Algerian authorities were generous with the Egyptian team. Because of that, we should do so with the Algerian team. So, don’t worry.
  •
  • But some Egyptian players’ behaviour after their goal was banned and Ouael Djomoaa’s attempt to beat policemen were about to cause troubles. How do you explain that?
  •
  • Actually, I do not defend the Egyptian players’ behaviour. We should not overstate what happened. At the end, everything was over and we have to think now about how to make the next match a happy football event.
  •
  • Some media reports focused on the stones attack on Al Ahly’s players and urged the Egyptian fans to do so though the person behind the attack was jailed. What is your comment?
  •
  • I read Egyptian newspapers and watch satellite channels regularly but I did not find any report or a statement inciting to attack the JS Kabylie’s players. If it was true, it must be a unique case among wise journalists who urge to forget about the past. The stones attack is an isolated incident and does not represent the Algerian people.
  •
  • Is there any security guarantees to ensure the safety of the Algerian team?
  •
  • Don’t worry about the JS Kabylie. Everything is ready to receive them and security guarantees are there. All the necessary measures were taken in coordination between the Egyptian Federation and Al Ahly to organise an excellent football event.
  •
  • May you say something in the end of the interview?
  •
  • I would like that Algerian and Egyptian media means respect sportive spirit and brotherhood. If they can do that, that will be great. Otherwise, they should go away and not spoil relations between the two countries once again.
