Egyptian Sawiris Accuses Algeria of Stealing His Money
Naguib Sawiris
Egyptian businessman, Naguib Sawiris, and the former owner of “Djezzy”, accused Algeria of “trying to steal” his money, through the use of the right of pre-emption against “Djezzy” and retrieve it.
Sawiris said in an interview with the “Jeune Afrique” magazine, that “Algeria halted my financial transactions. They stole my money?!”, he claimed.
Sawiris owned a cement factory in Algeria, but he defrauded the Algerian state and sold it for the French “Lafarge” without permission from Algeria, and then tried the same thing with “Djezzy” by offering it to sale to an operator from South Africa, but the authorities have intervened and prevented it.
