Egyptian workers occupy the second place in Algeria after Chinese
A total of 45 percent of foreign workers in Algeria are from China followed by Egyptians by 11 percent and Italians by 4 percent. Workers from Philippines, the US and Canada represent 3 percent, said employment general director at work ministry.
- “The number of foreign manpower in Algeria went up to 45,000 in 2009 compared to 543 in 1999. They are from 105 countries,” Said Anane told the national radio.
- “A total of 51 percent of foreign manpower work in construction and public works while services sector employs 6.3 percent only of the foreign workers in Algeria,” he added.
- He also says 23 percent of the foreign workers have higer education diplomas and 80 percent of them work in Algiers, Oran, Skikda, Mila, Ouarguela, Ilizi, Adrar, Mila and Boumerdes.
- “There is a national committee in charge of studying loan requests for small-sized companies projects.”
- He believes that employment systems in Algeria are putting pressure on banks to give young businessmen the opportunity of launching small and private projects.
- He said 20 percent of funded projects as part of young people’s employment are hindered by loans payment.
