Algeria announced officially, on Saturday, on a state of emergency, especially in the border areas of the country, not only because of the air strikes that are carried out by the US forces against ISIS in Libya, but also because of the “Zika” virus, which has become in front of our borders after the World Health Organization warned Algeria to take preventive measures that are needed to meet the transmission of this deadly virus.

Armed troops lived, since Saturday morning, as revealed by Echorouk sources, a high alert situation, after the air strikes that were carried out by US forces against the terrorist organization ISIS, to cope with the flow of escapee and refugees to the Algerian territory, with the ability to penetrate within the ranks of refugees who are fleeing the war.
Echoouk sources added that the People’s National Army troops accompanied by elements of border guards stepped up the land and air sorties across many axes and desert tracts, where they began, during the last few hours, and since the US forces started in the implementation of its strikes in Libya, in the work with a new security scheme to tighten controls on the border with Libya through an aerial surveillance of the desert in the western cities of Sardalas and in the far south-west, as well as in the southern border areas between the two countries, that are spanning over a distance of 1,000 kilometres.
For its part, the Health Ministry announced, on Saturday, a state of emergency in the border after receiving warnings from the World Health Organization, on Friday, which invited Algeria to take the complete measures and actions to avoid the appearance of any “Zika” virus case, as well as tightening controls on the Algerian border and take measures to intensify the necessary preventive measures.
In this context, Abdelmalek Boudiaf, Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform told Echorouk, that Algeria, which has adopted a global regulation of health is obliged to declare all the infected cases, or even those that are suspected of being infected with this virus or other viruses, indicating that the health centres at the level of land, air and sea borders are on high alert to deal with any emergency or suspected injury with “Zika” virus, and asserted that the Algerian warning system succeeded in tackling the virus “Ebola” which terrorized the world.
“Health services did not record any injury or case of a Zika virus, which appeared recently. Algeria is closely following this disease through taking preventive measures. I ordered health services across the entire national territory for the need for coordination with local authorities, to conduct field visits in suspicious areas to remove spots and places of stagnant water which is the essential source and a good atmosphere for the proliferation and spread of all types of insects that are vectors of viruses.
