European countries ask passengers list from Algeria

Accredited airlines in Algeria will have to send a detailed list of its passengers to the security forces of the countries they are heading for.

  • The list is part of a new security system launched in January. It contains each passenger’s name, address, occupation and parents’ name, Echorouk has learnt.
  •
  • The airlines were linked by an electronic system. If there is a failure, the company will have to send the list by e-mail.
  •
  • Previously, the new security measures were limited in Canada before Spain and a number of European countries including France had taken them. As Algeria’s Air Algerie enters those territories, it has to provide them with information on its passengers.
  •
  • CEO of Air Algerie Ouahid Bouabdellah said the airline should respect security measures set by any country. “Canada was the first to adopt this security system and France was the last one.”
  •
  • He added that Algeria asked airlines which land on its airports to provide it with similar lists.
